Huawei Nova 7i was launched closed to EID-2020!
The phone in Bangladesh is retailed at Rs. 44,000/-, but it is possible that in the market you may get it 1000 – 1500 lesser.
We will start this review with the built quality and design. There is glass at the front whereas. The back and frame both are made of plastic. There is no protection of Gorilla Glass here. The back of the phone is with this glossy finish.I have a pink colour phone. I found this pink color to be very attractive.
The camera array is square with rounded edges, just like we have seen in the latest iPhones and I also like this style.
I really liked the hand feel of this phone and with curved edges. This phone is also comfortable to hold in hands. So according to the design and build of this phone, I am very happy. I found it really beautiful.
But as far as the materials are concerned in this price range you normally get Gorilla Glass. And it would have been better if Gorilla Glass was used in this phone.
If we talk about the display there is a 6.4 inches display in Huawei Nova 7i. Which has a resolution of 1080 x 2310 and a pixel density is 398 PPI. At the top left of the display, there is a hole punch cutout that houses the selfie camera of this phone.
The colors of this display are very punchy, And for the sharpness too!!
This display is very great. But if you prefer large displays in this, it is left behind from the competitors.
In the same price range, the Redmi Note 9s offer a large display. Whereas in Realme 6, you get a display with a 90 Hz high refresh rate.
But not everyone likes a large display. For that matter, this phone is great for single-handed use.
Now if we get to the performance and internals, which in my opinion is the biggest selling point of Nova 7i. This phone finally has the Kirin 810 chipset from Silicon which is based on 7nm architecture. Along with, Mali G52 GPU.
For a long time now we were seeing Kirin 710 in the Huawei phones which is very old now, whereas the Kirin 810 combined with Mali G52, is a monster combination.
As I told you before phone comes with 8GB RAM 128GB built-in storage, and this is UFS 2.1 Storage which is faster but at this time in this price range, almost every phone offers UFS 2.1 Storage.
Now if we talk about the expansion, firstly an SD card is not supported in this phone. It only supports Huawei’s own nano memory card. But the sim slot is a hybrid one meaning, at a single time you can put 2 sims or a sim along with a nano memory card. If we move forward and talk about the interface the comes with Android 10 out of the box, but there is no Google Services given in it. About which we will talk about further in the article.
But talking about the UI, the phone has Huawei’s own UI that is Emotion UI, or EMUI 10 Which is Huawei’s custom UI. it’s layout is a little like the iPhone’s in which you get all the icons on your home screen. But the good thing is that you can activate the App Drawer. Now, let’s observe the performance of Nova 7i.
In the benchmark testing in Geekbench 4 the phone’s single-core score came out 2785 whereas the multicore score was 7676. On the other hand, if we talk about the Antutu Benchmark here the score came out to be 279904.
If we compare it to the main competitors in this price range firstly, Kirin 810 is based on the most advanced Manufacturing Process that is 7nm. Whereas the Snapdragon 720 G in Redmi Note 9s is based on 8nm architecture and Helio G90T in Realme 6 is based on 12nm architecture.
As much the processor’s transistors are designed on lesser nm, as low the power is needed by the chipset.
That is why the lesser the nm architecture the more power efficient the phone will be. If we look at the scores of all 3 phones, although the score of Realme 6 is higher. Its processor is quite inefficient. It gets a little hot and also drains more battery. That is why Snapdragon 720G is considered better than Helio G90T.
But if we look at the benchmark scores of Huawei Nova 7i despite having a lower nm architecture, still gives better performance than Redmi Note 9s.
If we talk about the real-world scenario, Kirin 810 is a very capable processor and all of your apps.
I ran PUBG on Nova 7i, downloaded from PUBG’s own website.
I also installed Call of Duty: Mobile, from Apk Pure, and again the game ran really smoothly. It was running on high settings by default, and I also played it with Ultra-high settings still no issues. So, after seeing this benchmark performance, and using it in the real world I am convinced that in this price range Kirin 810 is the best processor right now according to power as well as efficiency.
Where we are talking about efficiency, let’s talk about the battery and charging setup of this phone.
The phone comes with a battery of 4200mAh . Which is a little smaller in size but if we talk about its charging speed, this phone has Huawei’s Supercharge, which charges the phone, not 25W, not even 30W, at 40W.
Moving forward, we will talk about the camera setup of Nova 7i .
There is a quad-camera setup on the back in which there is a 48MP wide-angle camera which is its main sensor along with it there is an 8MP Ultrawide camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor.
The maximum video recording resolution of this phone is set to 1080p at 30 frames per second. And on the front, in this hole punch cut-out, there is a 16MP Selfie Shooter. Now, if we talk about the performance of this phone overall, I liked it the color reproduction was accurate. In this image, you can see that the Red color is looking like Red. I did not feel any color shift in it.
If we talk about its dynamic range, it, too, was great. In bright images, there is still blue color and details in the sky. Talking about the sharpness and clarity. A lot of the images seemed clear to me, but some images were coming out a little soft, and to correct that, I also noticed some aggressive sharpness in the pictures. And when you are taking images on the screen there comes a message of “Sharpening please steady your device” this thing annoyed me a little.
If we talk about the selfies, I really liked the selfie camera in the selfies. The Dynamic range was also great and the colors were also accurate. Talking about the photography .
Here the camera of Huawei Nova 7i has impressed me a lot, but when we talk about the video, there this phone lacks behind in this phone.
Firstly, there is no 4K video recording present along with it. When you make a 1080p video there is no electronic stabilization found there .
Nowadays phone offer 4K video recording and in 1080p. There always is Electronic Image Stabilization. I was really amazed that this phone didn’t have it. But it might come in a future update. But at this moment this phone is not good for video recording.
