Redmi Note 10 full review:

We’re going to discuss the most talked about series of the week. Recently guys, Xiaomi released four Redmi Note 10 series which is actually kind of a lot than usual. And welcome back to my article. Here we go again talking about the most popular series from Xiaomi which is the Redmi Note series.

Last year it was the 9 series, and of course this year, we now have the 10 series. Again, as I said earlier, they’ve released four during their global event; we have the Redmi 10 Pro, Redmi 10S, Redmi Note 10 5G, and of course the Redmi Note 10.

And that is what we have right now and what we’re going to talk about. Obviously, Redmi Note 10 Pro is the most expensive one among the four, and the cheapest or most affordable one among the four is this Redmi Note 10.

You might be thinking that Redmi Note 10 5g is the same compared to the Redmi Note 10, but the one is just 5G capable and the other is not. Apparently, it’s not. They still have some differences like the chipset. The 5G has a higher refresh rate while this one doesn’t have. And, yeah. We’re going to talk about those in the upcoming days, in case the four will be relesased here in the Philippines. But so far, only one is certain and it’s the Redmi Note 10. (entertainment music) The box is very straightforward. Actually, its appearance is still the same with the Redmi Note 9 series. It looks like we have a kind of blue color. We have here the model itself and I’m guessing we have a blue and white color, but what I have is sadly not the other two, because what I got is the black version. Let’s open it. There it is.

. Actually, there’s so many things I want to say about this phone. You know that for the Note series of Xiaomi, we have high expectations. We have a small box and inside this, we have the poking tool or the SIM ejector tool. No paperworks, because the phone that I have is not the retail unit. We also have a jelly case, a 33W fast charging power brick, and of course our USB Type-C charging cable that has an orange accent inside. So, Redmi Note 10. First impressions first.

Actually, the one I immediately tried to look for is the fingerprint sensor, because it’s not on the back, and it’s also not on the side. So, the first thing I thought about is that it has an AMOLED display, which is I’m correct with that, but where I’m wrong is that it doesn’t have an in-display fingerprint sensor. Why? Because guys, it’s side-mounted, although it’s not the traditional side-mounted fingerprint sensor that is dipped, because this time it’s raised. So you won’t really expect it that the one on the side is the fingerprint sensor. So what are the things that you should expect on this smartphone? First off, it has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display, it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 678, a 48MP quad-camera setup, and a whopping 5,000mAh battery capacity. (entertainment music)

So let’s first talk about the design. Obviously, you might find my Redmi Note 10 kind of boring, because it’s black. Nothing, you know, special. It’s obviously made of plastic or polycarbonate plastic. But, the camera setup looks very different. Guys, it looks premium, even though, obviously, it’s price is not that premium. And if you’ll notice it, it’s very similar to the camera setup of Mi 11. Although if we’ll put them side by side, they’re not too similar, but there are similarities. I know you understand my point. So let’s have a tour guys on this Redmi Note 10 on its buttons. I has a speaker on top, an IR blaster, and a single microphone. We know that Xiaomi is known for giving an IR blaster. What’s the IR blaster for? For you to be able to use your smartphone as a remote. On the right side is its volume rocker, and again, a power button that doubles as a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a SIM tray that is dual SIM and expandable via microSD card.

Below, a headphone jack, another microphone, USB Type-C port and speaker grill. For the fingerprint sensor, it is actually accurate and fast. It’s also consistent, but it’s not that fast that you’re thinking. It’s not this fast. Wow. I’ll show you what I am talking about

Wow, snappy. – But I like it. I like how they did it. Again, it’s different, because it’s not the usual one that, you know, where it’s kind of dipped.

Now, let’s talk about the display. I said earlier that it’s got a 6.43-inch AMOLED dot display which is something new, because, first of all, it’s AMOLED. And yeah, it is the first in its series. Its peak brightness can reach up to 1100. And its screen resolution is 2400×1080 pixels. So yes, it is full HD and AMOLED display. It’s so pleasing to hear that, I know. And of course, it’s also pleasing to the eyes. Although I must say, I thought that when it’s an AMOLED, it automatically has an in-display fingerprint sensor. Apparently, it doesn’t apply to all.

It’s like it’s became a norm in the tech industry, but it’s also good that it’s not an in-display, because I feel like that side-mounted one is really faster compared to an in-display when it comes to budget to mid-range devices. And another good news is that we also have a protection for the display of the Redmi Note 10, because it has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. And for the colors, the correct term for them is onyx gray, which is what I have right now.

It will also be available in pebble white, and lake green. The phone weighs 178.8g which is actually heavy, guys, for a plastic smartphone. But I still get it since it really has a huge battery capacity that is 5,000mAh. And even though polycarbonate is only used on it, it really feels like plastic, it doesn’t feel cheap, it feels very sturdy and it’s like the weight distribution is so balanced on it. For those who don’t know, there are phones that are heavy on a side, because there are usually more components on this part of the phone’s because of its camera. And in addition, it also has an IP53 splash-proof resistance. Now, how is the display?

Actually guys, for me, the display is okay. Its colors are accurate. It has deep blacks, but I was kind of bothered that the side bezels are kind of thick, especially its chin. But I was glad because its punch hole is located at the center which is not new anymore, because its the same style with the Redmi Note 9 series. What I also like about this phone is it already has dual speakers. It’s not just a plain dual speakers, but it has a high resolution audio certification.

And I know you want to hear the audio quality of the Redmi Note 10. So I’ll let you hear it after this clip. (entertainment music) Right now, we’ll talk about performance. You know, this video is not that in-depth, obviously because I’ve just got the phone last night. But I did experience the device, and I had enough time for me to give you my initial review. Again, for the chipset, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 678, 2.2Ghz octa-core CPU with Adreno 612 GPU. And it has actually three variants. 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage, 4GB RAM with 128GB internal storage, or a 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. And it also has the UFS 2.2 storage. Actually, from its AnTuTu score, it’s also already impressive. It’s a budget phone, but it exceeded the AnTuTu score of previous budget phones that we’ve reviewed this year 2021. Its result was 242,905 which is actually not bad. So how good is it in real-life gaming performance of this smartphone? (entertainment music)

Now, let’s talk about camera. Actually, there’s this funny part here. On its camera setup in its back, “ultra premium” is written which is actually a really big word for Xiaomi to put. They really put them guys here on the camera setup. So let’s see if result is really ultra premium of its photos. Okay. To be exact, it has a 48MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide angle camera, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor. And for the front camera, 13MP is what we have. So opening the camera app, what we’ll see first is of course the auto mode in where we can choose between 1x, 0.6x or its ultrawide, or the 2x. It also has a video mode. We can take videos using the ultrawide, but we cannot switch between these options while taking the video already. It also has a pro mode, portrait mode wherein we can adjust, of course, the bokeh lens. And when we go to the more, it has a night mode, 48MP option, a short video, panorama, documents, slow motion, and time-lapse.

And yes, for video recording, guys, we can shoot up to 4K resolution for the rear camera. And for the front camera, Redmi Note 10 can reach up to 1080p resolution. Actually, for the set of cameras that we have for this smartphone, it’s your typical set of cameras, nothing really that special. But the result of our photos were good for my initial verdict. I was very impressed with the result of its videos. It’s stable except when I use the 4K resolution.

As you can see, it’s more stabilized and it’s not that shaky anymore even though we’re walking. Guys, this is my studio. I’m currently editing this video and I’m just having some coffee. I’m so editing so many stuff. And yeah, that’s it. I gave you the current situation of my studio. It’s really messy in real life. And this is our TV. It still doesn’t have a table. So guys, here is my sample video using the 4K at 30 FPS of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10. As you can see, it’s much better and it’s clearer. I actually like the quality of this one, but you can see that’s it kind of, you know… it’s not stabilized. It’s already expected like other smartphones when 4K is used. (entertainment music)

battery and charging

Now, for the battery and charging, it has a 5,000mAh of battery capacity paired 33W fast charging. 33W paired with 5,000mAh is the perfect combination. I mean 33W is not compared to 65W obviously, but for a smartphone at this price range, that is what you call bang for your buck. If you’ll remember last year, the Redmi Note 9 has a 5,020mAh which only has 20 more. But the old one only has 15W fast charging.

Now, it’s 33W which is a really big upgrade. Actually, so far, switching between applications on this smartphone, opening games, and my overall UI experience on this became really okay. (entertainment music) And by the way, before I even forget, it already has the MI UI 12 based on Android 11.

You know what guys, if the price point of the Redmi Note 10 will be on Php9,000-Php12,000, this smartphone will really be worth it. There are so many smartphones that I have tried that ranges from Php10,000-Php15,000, but the specs isn’t like on this one. It may not have a 5G connectivity, but consider this, if you don’t live in an area that has a 5G network or the places that you go to don’t also have 5G network or it’s not accessible, there is no point of getting a smartphone with 5G connectivity.

Let me give you my initial pros and cons. Of course, let’s go first with the upgrade on the AMOLED display. Guys, from IPS to AMOLED, it’s really pleasing to the eyes and to the ears. Although, you might be expecting a higher refresh rate, but since we have a wide variety for the Redmi Note 10 series, it’s not possible for all phones to have it. If we’ll have a Redmi Note 10 5G, it’ll be 90Hz. So if you want a higher refresh rate and 5G connectivity, go for that phone. Another pro is of course the 33W fast charging. It’s really a huge upgrade from before that is 18W only. So everything really changes, right? I also really like how they did the side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and of course a very competitive chipset.

What I just didn’t like on this phone or the con is probably the design. I didn’t like the color that I have that much. It’s also a smartphone that is a smudge magnet. It’s looks already haggard-looking. But if you’re this type of person who really doesn’t care about its outer appearance and you want a more powerful but cheap smartphone, then maybe this won’t affect you.
